No celebration for 'Mela'

Mela dilon ka aata hai ik baar … Aa ke chala jaataa hai ….

Yes, this song actually gave away the future of this film … It came once and it went leaving the audience in a dilemma … Whether to loathe this film or ABSOLUTELY hate it ?

The plot is a been-there-done-that. Roopa (Twinkle Khanna) is on the run from the village goons who killed her brother (Ayub Khan). She ends up meeting Kishen (Aamir Khan) and Shankar (Faisal Khan) who help her to fight her demons? Will Roopa avenge her brother’s death? Who wins in the end? Obviously, the good guys – Typical hindi film, eh !

Damsel in distress - ALWAYS
Aamir Khan is known to be a perfectionist … But even he makes mistakes sometimes … Because that’s what this film was … A silly mistake. Nonetheless, his comic timing as the mischievous Kishan is what saves this film from being a complete and utter disaster.

Faisal Khan doesn’t have much to do. He is just there to save Kishan’s bottom in the dishoom-dishoom scenes. He does impress though with the limited amount of things that he does get to do.
Pee-drinking scene - PUKE !

Twinkle Khanna is always the damsel in distress. She reminds me of Amisha Patel in Aap Mujhe Acche Lagne Lage … Wahi rona dhona … Saas kheech kar baatein karna … Uff ! To say that her acting is terrible would be such an understatement. I wonder if Karisma Kapoor (the first choice for the role of Roopa) had done the film … it might have had a somewhat different future …  Might !
Amisha Patel: Twinkle ji meri inspiration hai *giggle giggle*
Twinkle Khanna: Issshh ... Itni izzat ... Haaye .. *in an over-dramatic/filmy manner*

The direction of Dharmesh Darshan fails miserably – A director who gave us a classic film in the form of Raja Hindustani.  The songs are passable. My personal preferences are Kamarya Lachke Re and Dekho 2000 Zamaana Aagaya (Yeah, I know it’s corny … but C’mon everyone knows I am weird ).

Choreography is bad though … especially the Kamarya Lachke song … It had so much potential, Tsk tsk !

Thumbs up: Amir Khan (Duh), Faisal Khan
Thumbs Down: Twinkle Khanna’s terrible acting skills, plot, blah blah !

Watch it if you have nothing else to do … And you might want to use your DVD player’s remote a lot to fast forward scenes which drag !
P.s: My laptop did not want to play the movie … (I wonder why) … Anyway so I couldn’t upload any stills … Hence, The images on this post are from Google Images. Ciao !
